Streams of Registration

 

Before commencing your application, you must determine in what area (stream) of the supply chain you will seek an eligibility assessment. Your selected stream will cover your areas of expertise and the areas in which you practice. Each stream will cover various areas; you are not expected to cover all.

For registration purposes and in the context of the ASCI Professional Accreditation Scheme, the descriptions below guide potential registrants in what is covered in each area (stream) of the supply chain.

Potential candidates are responsible for reviewing the description stream they intend to register to determine whether and in which area/s of the supply chain they need to be registered to perform their duties.

Descriptions of the various streams in the supply chain are provided below:

1. Supply Chain Management: Supply Chain Management is a multidisciplinary approach towards a cost-effective availability, both physically and operationally, of goods and services against information and funds through the optimisation and integration of the capacities, interfaces, processes and functions across and between major business functions and processes both within and among companies, such to maximise customer value and gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace” © Australasian Supply Chain Institute

2. Integrated Product Support: Integrated Product Support is a set of related disciplines focused on the cost-effectiveness, definition, design, development, delivery, and ongoing operation of a harmonised Support System for specified Products or Product Families.

3. Procurement and Supply Management: Procurement and Supply Management is an organisational function that encompasses the scoping, planning, and acquisition of goods and services, resources, associated capabilities, and relationships, both internal and external, which enable an organisation to deliver on its strategic and operational objectives in a competitive, profitable, ethical, efficient, and sustainable manner.

4. Operations Management: Operations Management is a dimension of the Supply Chain, focusing on planning, scheduling, and controlling materials, people, and energy to provide the firm's primary goods and services to meet customer needs in the most sustainable, efficient & profitable manner.

5. Logistics Management: Logistics is a dimension of the Supply Chain that is responsible for analytical planning, operational execution, implementation, risk assessment and control of all related processes in support of efficient, cost-effective forward and reverse movement, storage, multimodal distribution of goods and material, including all relevant, pertinent information, between the points of origin and points of consumption to meet the end customers' needs.
