Webinar: Sustainable Packaging for SMEs: Future of Fibre & Renewable Materials
Produced by AusIndustry and the Australian Institute of Packaging, presented as part of the ASCI CPD Program. ASCI, as partner of AusIndustry, is proud to support the webinar.
AusIndustry and the Australian Institute of Packaging would like to invite you to attend this webinar update to discuss The Future of Fibre & Renewable Materials including compostable packaging.
The impact of plastic on the environment has become a pressing global issue, and the packaging industry has been slow in addressing community concerns. This growing concern has seen companies and retailers reacting, perhaps overreacting to consumers' attitudes and rapidly seeking to replace plastic packaging with paper/fibre-based alternatives.
Paper-based packaging is typically thought to be a sustainable alternative to plastic since it is understood to be recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable. But does paper-based packaging particularly for foods outperform plastic in terms of protection, functionality, cost-effectiveness, durability, and even from a sustainability perspective?
During this webinar, we will explore the pros and cons of fibre or paper alternatives and what to consider in reviewing packaging options.
Topics to be discussed will include:
- Design factors for packaging selection
- Understanding properties of paper, paper board and fibre packaging.
- Recyclability issues
- Composability & PFAS
- Innovations in paper and fibre packaging
This free webinar will be recorded and all registrants will receive a copy of the video and other resources for future reference.
